We all feel it now, no matter how resistant or in denial we are...the holidays are upon us! It’s really happening. Every year the holidays just kind of creep up like a snake in the grass. First, you think you hear something in the bushes so you look with your side eye, and then out of no where you’re almost tripping over a snake slithering right across your path. You weren’t prepared for it so you stumble, trying to catch your footing, losing your balance, letting out a fear based screech (HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS COMING!?!)...
And then with the blink of an eye, the snake disappears, back into the long grasses on the other side of the trail - leaving you shaken, rattled, and quite frankly...a bit terrified. Did that really just happen? Whoa.
For some of us; this is how the holidays feel. Like a blip in time filled with the chaos of family, friends, festivus, food, fun...and DRANKS! Toss in pressies, pressure, travel, uncomfortable work parties, and too many late nights...and well now you’ve got yourself a true holiday season, #goddessstyles.
We know it can be a lot. And that’s why we’re here for you. With a toolbox of beautiful tools to help you transition from the cozy hibernating vibes of fall, to the straight up craziness of the vibrant razzle dazzle holiday season. Cuz let’s face it - sometimes it’s hard to rally through the “most wonderful time of the year!”

1. Ceremonial Hot Chocolate
Nothing says warmth like wrapping yourself up in a yummy cup of hot cocoa, and what a bonus if it’s healthy & healing as well! Here’s my favourite recipe for a cuppa warm chocolate for your soul, and all your house guests too!
Ceremonial Hot Chocolate — serves 2 - from @motherbees
2 cups light coconut or almond milk
3 tablespoons cacao powder or unsweetened dark cacoa powder (you could also use carob powder here)
Pinch of sea salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tablespoon coarse cornmeal
1 tablespoon coconut oil, ghee, or salted grass-fed butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar to taste (optional)
1 small strip of orange peel (optional)
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, warm the coconut milk and then stir the rest of the ingredients into the milk slowly.
When the cacao and sweetener are dissolved and it tastes perfect to you, drink warm. There may be some congealed bits of cornmeal, which add a lovely texture, but you can also blend the drink until it's smooth if you prefer.
2. Epsom salt & lavender bath
Second to hot chocolate in the race for creating cozy vibes has got to be a bath. An epsom salt bath sprinkled with just the right amount of lavender, to be exact!
We could go on for approx 1,000,000 pages about the benefits of epsom salt for your body, mind and soul, but here's the quickie version:
Lavender is a soothing essential oil that calms and soothes pretty much everything - no seriously. Your mind, body, muscles, worries, insomnia...and so much more.
Mama tip! I used this oil almost daily throughout my pregnancy (and then labour!) to help soothe my growing belly and ease the aches and pains that come along with growing a human!

Aaaaannnddd, if you really wanna take a BATH, make your bath a flower bath. Click here for our favorite recipe.
3. Breath work for warming the body & calming the mind
When you don't have time to make some hot cocao, and there's no bathtub in sight...not to worry! You've got your breath, and it's pretty damn powerful.
There is practice called alternate nostril breathing that we loooovvveeeee, especially in high stress moments. You can do it for 1-minute, 3-minutes, 11-minutes, however long you've got!
Here's what you do:
- Bring your right hand up to your nose, plugging the right nostril with your right thumb.
- Breathe long and deeply through the left nostril.
- Gently suspend the breath as you release your thumb and bring your index finger over to the left nostril. Once it's there, plug it with the index finger, and exhale completely through the right nostril.
- Gently pause, release the index finger and bring the thumb back to the right nostril, inhale through the left nostril, pause, index finger to left nostril, exhale through the right, and keep going in this gentle cycle.
Make sure on every inhale your belly grows like a little Buddha, and on every exhale it gently falls back toward your spine.
We recommend doing this for 3-minutes once a day, as that is how long it takes for your brain chemistry to change in accordance with the practice!
Bonus points if you...
Make ceremonial hot chocolate, drink it in your epsom salt & lavender bath, while doing your alternate nostril breathing ;)
Big love, goddess light! And happiest of holidays. You got this.
